“Congressman Everett is a senior member of the House Armed Services,
Intelligence and Agriculture Committees and is currently the Ranking
Member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces”
-
Furthermore, he supported the creation of the Army Unmanned Aerial System
(UAS) "Center of Excellence" at Fort Rucker. Army Unmanned Aerial
Systems are the vanguard of U.S. battlefield strategy, flying 80 percent
of all U.S. unmanned military missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. [source]

"I have great concerns for southeast peanut producers who grow almost
85 percent of the nation's peanuts. They are the number one losers in this
bill. The bill does include an important new initiative that will not only
help all peanut producers address rising input costs, but will ensure greater
yields and better stewardship of the land through enhanced crop rotation.
Unfortunately, only $10 million annually is allocated for this program,
which is not enough to make the program successful."
-
"I have been working on drought relief legislation for several years and
I am pleased that much of the language of my Farm Reservoir Act has been
included in the farm bill. This revised Regional Water Enhancement
Program will provide cost-share assistance to agricultural producers
for projects like the construction of on-site reservoirs. This is a ‘win-win'
situation for both the producer and the taxpayer. However, it upsets
me that specific watersheds were given priority consideration under this
program rather than drought-impacted areas in greater need." [source]

For
his stance of Iraq War:
-
“I will support any responsible plan that brings our troops home
as quickly as possible, but also requires the Iraqi government to bear
the appropriate expenses for defending and rebuilding Iraq. The Iraqis
should use their petroleum resources as collateral on any past, present
and future loans for their government to stabilize their economy and prepare
their country for self-governance.”
For
his stances on many issues (Dothan Eagle questionnaire):
-
“Our open borders threaten America’s economic and national security. I
would never support amnesty for illegal immigrants. It’s not fair
for folks here illegally to get preferential treatment over tax-paying
Americans and those waiting in line for their legal shot at the American
dream. We are a nation of laws and we are a nation of immigrants. In Congress,
I will fight to secure our borders and make sure that workforce laws are
enforced and benefits are not received by anyone in our country illegally.”

Jay
Love’s campaign homepage:
Issues
he considers “most important”
"There is no doubt that securing our borders and closing the flood
of illegal immigrants flowing into Alabama and the rest of the country
should be one of Congress’ highest priorities. Jay believes that uncontrolled
illegal immigration hurts our economy, drains our tax dollars and places
our homeland security in jeopardy. In addition to better enforcing our
existing laws, we need to make sure that we refuse amnesty to those people
who willingly chose to ignore our laws and enter the country illegally."
"Promoting the agricultural industry and providing assistance to
farmers adversely affected by the on-going drought is another top priority
on Jay’s list. Farmers and their families have been hit hard, and we need
to make sure that the federal government is doing everything possible to
support them."
"Ensuring that our soldiers and military families have the equipment,
resources, and support they need to protect our nation and effectively
fight the global War on Terror is also very important to Jay. Within the
2nd Congressional District, we have a proud history of service to our nation
and supporting our troops. Jay’s goal in Congress is to ensure that tradition
continues."
