Russ Barnwell
Jacksonville, AL
Political Science and English
Russ is interested in College Democrats, and a career in environmental law and politics. He was Valedictorian, Lt. Governor of Key Club, Senior Beta President, Spanish Club President, Senior Class Vice-President, and Captain of EnviroBowl (2nd at State). He was at one time a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, and an active member of our political science club, taking field trips to the Jimmy Carter Center in Atlanta and to World Affairs Council. Russ led the college Democrats to a flower planting demonstration of the lives lost to lack of health insurance, which was featured in video and article in the Montgomery Advertiser newspaper. In 2012-2013 he led them in a number of forums, debates and other activities. In April 2011, he presented a paper to the annual meeting of the Alabama Political Science Association. He has won the political science award each year, and made appearances on the Dean's List of High Honors. In summer 2012, he took an internship with Project Vote-Smart on a ranch in Montana; in spring 2013 he took an internship with the Business Council of Alabama.
John Phillips

Political Science major
Interested in becoming a professional lobbyist.
John plays forward in soccer (he's left-handed but right footed).
He speaks a little Spanish, and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
In spring 2013, John served as a Capitol Intern in the State House.
Brittney Thorn
Montgomery, AL
Political Science major
Interested in becoming a district judge. She loves reading and travel, especially a trip to Chicago where she enjoyed a family reunion and dined in Chinatown. She is active in Abundant Life church in Selma. Brittney has combined studies at HC with some at a college in her home town of Selma.

Political Science major, formerly cell biology
major.
Robert is interested in politics and takes leadership
positions (he is VP of the College Republicans and VP of Sigma Phi Epsilon
fraternity.) He used to play baseball and pitched in his freshman
year at HC. In spring 2011, 2012 and 2013 he took three competitive,
Capitol internships in the AL Senate.

Max Johnson
Max is interested in baseball and a career in the military or intelligence. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, and an active member of our political science club, taking field trips to the Jimmy Carter Center in Atlanta and to World Affairs Council in 2009-10. Max transferred to Auburn for sophomore year.
Chris Major
Chris is interested in football (he is a wide receiver) and starting a law firm. He is a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, and was an active member of our political science club in 2009-10, taking field trips to the Jimmy Carter Center in Atlanta and to World Affairs Council. Chris left the PSC major in his second term.

Communications Studies major with minors in Political
Science and Mathematics
Recreational basketball, crocheting, working with
children. In Foley HS she ran track and played basketball; she was
in Key Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, as well as a national
honor society. She was the class salutatorian. In 2009-11 she
was an active member of our political science club, taking field trips
to the Jimmy Carter Center in Atlanta and to World Affairs Council.
Bobby Lee "Trey" Taunton
From Trinity HS, Montgomery AL, and Pike Rd, AL
Trey entered HC in Fall 2010 with college credits
transferred from Wofford College, SC.
He is also interested in pre-Law and accounting.
In the workplace, he serves as theater lighting director for Trinity HS;
he also delivers and installs home audio systems for Cohen's electronics
and appliances store. He takes an active interest in politics and
has attended a number of Alabama World Affairs Council speaker events,
where he has taken photographs and notes for the web site at www.AWAC.US.
Daylan Woodall
Communications major
Daylan has quite an interest in things political,
and travelled with the political science club to the FDR Little White House;
the CNN tour; and the Jimmy Carter Center on 3 Dec. '09. In spring
2011 he was awarded a civic engagement prize in political science, an autographed
book being provided by President West.
