Aarendy Gomez

Aarendy claims heritage that is Mexican-Aruban-Dutch-American.
She is active in volleyball, church and Latin-American organizations including
the Marcha caucus and the Hispanic Youth Leadership Academy in the
UMC, focussed on public policy. She also plays classical piano.
At HC she quickly became a leader of our first Model United Nations team;
although prevented by a broken ankle from travelling to New York for the
national simulation, she returned in Fall '09 as an officer of the team.
"Aarendy Gomez '12 (Political Science; Centreville, Ala.) spent eight weeks of her summer traveling with the Ethnic Young Adult (EYA) Summer Internship Program, sponsored by the General Board of Church and Society of the United Methodist Church. As part of the Latin America Working Group, Aarendy attended congressional hearings and seminars and visited embassies and the United Nations building. Worked part time in a clothing boutique.

Roman's grandfather immigrated from Sicily.
Roman, besides being a football fan, plays golf and cards; and is interested
in becoming a federal law enforcement agent. In January 2009, Governor
Riley appointed Roman to a Juvenile Deliquency Prevention Council.
