Aarendy Gomez

Aarendy claims heritage that is Mexican-Aruban-Dutch-American.  She is active in volleyball, church and Latin-American organizations including the Marcha caucus and the Hispanic Youth Leadership Academy in the UMC, focussed on public policy.  She also plays classical piano.  At HC she quickly became a leader of our first Model United Nations team; although prevented by a broken ankle from travelling to New York for the national simulation, she returned in Fall '09 as an officer of the team.

"Aarendy Gomez '12 (Political Science; Centreville, Ala.) spent eight weeks of her summer traveling with the Ethnic Young Adult (EYA) Summer Internship Program, sponsored by the General Board of Church and Society of the United Methodist Church. As part of the Latin America Working Group, Aarendy attended congressional hearings and seminars and visited embassies and the United Nations building.  The program took participants to Washington, D.C., New York City, and Baltimore." -- HC Monday Messages, 25 Aug. Member of Phi Mu sorority; plays piano; and loves to travel to Mexico, and England.  In High School, she was Yearbook editor, secretary of SGA, salutatorian.  She intends to be a real estate lawyer and plans to take a law degree at Vanderbilt University.

Dual enrolment with UNA; cheerleader; SGA; mission trips to assist victims of Katrina. She served a semester in DC as a page for Sen. Shelby, attending full time the Senatorial page high school.  Was in DC when Dems took control of Congress, an historic event.   Active in McCain presidential campaign summer 2008, Freshman Forum 2008-09.  Secretary of the College Republicans, 2008-09.  Worked part time in a clothing boutique.

Abby Grace took PSC 201 in Fall 2008, an exciting election season.

Roman at orientation, August 2008

Roman Andrew Rauccio
Prattville
Roman's grandfather immigrated from Sicily.  Roman, besides being a football fan, plays golf and cards; and is interested in becoming a federal law enforcement agent.  In January 2009, Governor Riley appointed Roman to a Juvenile Deliquency Prevention Council.
