Dr. Lewis, a British citizen by birth, in 2002 became an American citizen.

Subjects and degrees: American and British national politics; public policy; voters, parties & elections; presidency; executive politics, public administration & bureaucracy; public organization theory; West European politics; and international relations. Research focus: official transparency and freedom of information in the US and UK.

  • Department chair, History and Political Science, responsible for recruiting, advising up to 70 majors, curriculum, assessment, budgeting and placement.
  • Third 5-year comprehensive curriculum review in political science, 2010-11: obtained approval for new courses in World Politics; Southern Politics; Public Organiztions and Policy; and Terrorism and Developing Countries. Two courses were also approved for HC's new Honors core.

  • Program coordinator for political science 1996-2008.
  • Teaching 15 political science courses, and additional courses, 4-7 preparations per term, at Huntingdon college.
  • Recruiting, advising and placing up to 44 student majors.

  • Elected chair, travel committee, 2004-06, which maintained and adapted travel program and policy to budget reductions.
  • Elected faculty member, Dean of Faculty external search committees, spring 2004; and spring 2008.
  • Elected chair, core curriculum committee, which redesigned college core in two months, passed Nov. 2003.
  • Elected chair, academic services committee, which wrote technology use policy for college.

  • Brought in many guest speakers from international relations, national security, politics and law; took field trips to courts, legislature, museums and conferences.
